Departmental Teaching Assistant

Level C – NJC Grade 5

Varndean School requires two enthusiastic, committed and outstanding Departmental Teaching Assistants. The successful applicants would be expected to provide in-class support to students with a range of special educational needs. An interest in Science and Maths would be an advantage.

The closing date is 7am on Monday, July 6th and the interviews are currently scheduled for later that week. Please see the advert and job description for full details.

Salary level: NJC Grade 5 (B&H Level C). The post is term-time only, thirty hours a week, so the actual annual salary range is: £14276 – £15657.

School Leader 

NJC Grade 5

Varndean School requires an enthusiastic, committed and outstanding School Leader to work within the pastoral and admin support teams within Turing School – one of the four schools within the wider structure of Varndean School.

The four School offices are busy and productive areas that require someone with the flexibility to deal with normal daily student support routines at one moment; monitor the students’ behaviour and academic development at another, provide information to parents and other stakeholders – and provide valuable admin support to the Deputy Head of School as they go about their duties. IT skills are essential, including MS-Office.

Salary Range: NJC Grade NJC Grade 5 (£19817 – £21734). The post is term-time only and the actual salary range will be £16768 – £18390 per annum.

Voluntary Teaching Assistants

Varndean School requires enthusiastic, committed and outstanding Voluntary Teaching Assistants. The successful applicants would be expected to provide in-class support to students with a range of special educational needs.

The Individual Learning Support area is a busy and productive part of the School and has a vibrant team of experienced leaders and support staff. The successful applicants would be expected to provide an appropriate level of support in an expansive, skilled and dynamic area of the curriculum.

This is a non-salaried post suitable for those wanting experience before developing a career in teaching & learning support in schools.
