Support Staff Vacancies

Science Technician

Varndean School requires an enthusiastic, committed and outstanding Science Technician for the STEM area. The successful applicant would be expected to provide support to staff and students within the Science area and would report directly to the lead teacher for Science.

The Science department is a busy and productive part of the School and has a vibrant team of experienced leaders and support staff. The successful applicant would be expected to provide an appropriate level of support in an expansive, skilled and dynamic area of the curriculum with a wide range of subject choices on offer.

The closing date is 7am on Monday, December 1st and the interviews are currently scheduled for later that week.

Salary: NJC Grade 4. The post is term-time only, so the actual annual salary range is: £14666-16345.

School Leader            

NJC Grade 5 –  Jan 2015

Varndean School requires an enthusiastic, committed and outstanding School Leader to work within the pastoral and admin support teams within Turing School – one of the four schools within the wider structure of Varndean School.

The four School offices are busy and productive areas that require someone with the flexibility to deal with normal daily student support routines at one moment; monitor the students’ behaviour and academic development at another, provide information to parents and other stakeholders – and provide valuable admin support to the Deputy Head of School as they go about their duties. IT skills are essential, including MS-Office.

The closing date is 7am on Thursday, November 27th and interviews are currently scheduled for the following week.

Salary Range: NJC Grade NJC Grade 5 (£19817 – £21734). The post is full-time, term-time only and the actual salary range will be £16768 – £18390 per annum (pay award pending).

The Individual Learning Support area is a busy and productive part of the School and has a vibrant team of experienced leaders and support staff. The successful applicants would be expected to provide an appropriate level of support in an expansive, skilled and dynamic area of the curriculum.

This is a non-salaried post suitable for those wanting experience before developing a career in teaching & learning support in schools.

Catering Assistant

Caterlink are the UK’s leading contract caterer to schools and colleges providing fresh healthy foods to over 200,000 customers a week.

Our “Fresh Food Policy” is the foundation of our success and growth in the market coupled with a desire to truly deliver on the promises we make to our clients and support our site based teams.

We are now seeking to recruit a talented and ambitious Catering Assistant at Varndean School, Brighton.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills. The role will include basic food preparation such as baking cakes, making sandwiches and salads, washing up, general cleaning duties, setting up the Deli Bar area, cash handling and serving customers in a polite, friendly and professional manner.  The position is for 20 hours per week. Monday to Friday. This position is term time only, £7.65/hour in line with the Brighton living wage.

They will be enthusiastic, flexible, have a neat and tidy appearance and possess strong communication skills.
