Sports Day 2017
Our annual school Sports Day will take place on Friday 14th July at Withdean Stadium. Students need to be at Withdean by 9.00am, in sports kit if they are competing. All students must bring with them a packed lunch, drink, waterproofs and sun cream. A packed lunch will be provided for those students entitled to a free school meal. Students are not required to wear uniform on the day but are asked to wear colours that represent their school if possible, Ellis-purple, Russell-blue, Turing-red and Angelou-green.
If your child cannot make their own way to the Withdean Stadium (or you would prefer them not to) they need to be at Varndean School by 8.30am so that they can be walked over with members of staff. To ensure we organise enough staff for these students we need to know how many to expect in advance. So if you wish your child to be escorted to Withdean please contact Reception on 01273 561281 or email email@example.com
If heavy rain is forecast on the day, we will review the situation and post a notice on the school website if the event is to be cancelled. This will be posted no later than 6pm on Thursday July 13th. If Sports Day is cancelled then students must attend school as normal on the 14th but please note that the canteen would not be open so a packed lunch will still be required for that day.
Sports Day is expected to finish at approximately 1.15pm but could be earlier, depending on weather. Parents are welcome to join us at Sports Day but we ask that students remain with their forms and parents sit in the designated areas.
