Varndean Dolphins set out to Save the Oceans !
Our school mascot, the Dolphin, is under threat. From the estimated 8 million tonnes of plastic that flow into the ocean each year.
Horrified by this fact, Y7 and y8 students embarked on a campaign with
Surfer’s Against Sewage to be a Plastic Free School.
One of the projects involved communicating and educating people about the impact of littering and using single use plastics. This is the results of their hard work .
I hope you will agree, its impressive and powerful.
“I liked doing this project. It was creative and different and it will give a message to students for years to come about the impact of our rubbish on the Earth.” Y8 student.
Varndean intends to expand its recycling capabilities and has already made huge progress with the plastic free status of the Canteen. Thank you to you all in y7 and y8. Tim Speller and Mark Hancock.
