The girls' extra-curricular cycling club undercliff trip
Just after the Easter break, the girls' cycling club went on a trip along the undercliff pass. Led by This Girl Can Sussex Ambassador Tess Agnew and a fantastic team from Sustrans, the extra-curricular club has proved very popular with students, offering them a supportive and fun environment in which to ride bikes.
The students in the club have a mixed range of abilities, but a common interest in cycling and the freedom it brings. It has been very rewarding to see their confidence grow since the club began in April 2021.
One of the members, Rosie in Year 8, said:
It is really fun and refreshing, I don't normally cycle outside of school so to be able to do this for free is brilliant! It was really nice along the beach with the views.
You can read more about the club in Active Sussex's blog.
More photos of cycling and the beach workshop with Sussex Wildlife Trust can be seen in the photo gallery.
The girls' cycling club is just one of many extra-curricular clubs on offer to students. For information about and a full list of all the current clubs on offer at Varndean, please visit the Extra-curricular and Enrichment page.
The #prom balloons are ready and on their way! A huge thank you to the team for pulling together what promises to be a fantastic celebration for our students #memorymakers #schoolleavers https://t.co/pgvsd2M25B
