Varndean School is an 11-16 school with around 1350 students, set in a picturesque south coast location in the vibrant and diverse city of Brighton and Hove. We are a Good (Ofsted 2017) and well-established school already, and we have made rapid progress over the past couple of years and have no intention of resting on our laurels. We are looking for an outstanding teacher and leader, to help take an already successful department and make it ‘world class’. The potential here is immense, we believe arts education is a right not a luxury, and the successful applicant will have a key role in our vision to develop World Class Learning through the leadership of Music.
We are looking to appoint a Director of Music who has:
The vision and passion to provide the widest opportunities for students including ensembles, groups, choirs and orchestras.
A thorough understanding of what World Class teaching entails and how best to support colleagues in improving their practice
A secure track record of delivering excellent whole school music provision and curriculum excellence
The energy, drive and resilience to make a tangible difference as a Director of Music Head of Department in a large and ambitious school
The integrity, moral purpose, presence and emotional intelligence necessary to inspire confidence from staff, students and parents
