Ben and Harvey crowned Sussex champions!
We are so thrilled and proud of Ben and Harvey, our Year 8 students who got through to the regional final of the Create and Cook competition 2016 - and won!
For the competition students were tasked with devising their own seasonal and local ingredient based menu, as well as cooking it for the judges. The menu is seasonal fish and seafood stew with homemade bread and aioli followed by Sussex Downs Meringue with fresh soured cream.
One of the judges and Director of fit2cook food education, Min Raisman, said,
Very well done to Ben and Harvey for winnng the Sussex final. They were very impressive in the kitchen - organised, confident and focused with good knowledge about their local ingredients. I look forward to seeing them on Tuesday 21st June at the Regional Final at Newlyns Cookery School near Hook, Hampshire.
In the grand final the boys will be cooking against Oak Grove College, the winners of the Hampshire final on 9th May and the winners of the Isle of Wight final on 18th May.
The dedication of all the students taking part and the staff, Mr Desborough and Mr Hancock, has been phenomenal! Find out more about the Food and Hospitality department and the school canteen.
