Changes in the canteen.
This morning we were joined by Life Water who have recently launched a new can of water. Each Life Water can is made from 70% recycled aluminium and from 100% recyclable materials, and the water in the cans is locally sourced from the UK.
We were also jointed by Melissa who is helping launch the Cup Neutral scheme.
As a large school with many students and staff using the canteen we know how important it is to keep up with new and innovative ways of recycling and being more eco friendly.
Our students are very passionate about this and we have heard their concerns and will always try and act to drive forward change. This is why we are now stocking Life Water cans in our canteen and joining the Cup Neutral scheme.
We have already been using vegware products for the last year. Vegware is a manufacturer and visionary brand, it specialises in plant-based compostable foodservice packaging.
We wanted to see what the students thought of the new changes, so we invited them in for a chat.
It was a unanimous vote in favour of the new Life can. Jess, Evie, Ruby, Esme and Niall all agreed this was a change students wanted. They want to minimise the use of plastic and even thought it would encourage people to drink more water!
Great to reconnect with Y7, 8 and 9 yesterday and today. Lots to celebrate with off site learning and even more to look forward to for enrichment and planning for our school community to be back together in September #teamVarndean #reconnecting https://t.co/ch6PYeA26E
