MRS MAGGIE CORBIN
We were very sad to hear of the death of Mrs Corbin (Miss Walker) earlier this month at the age of 95. She died at a nursing home in Harrogate, having moved there to be nearer her sister after the death of her husband, Harold Corbin.
She taught Art at Varndean from 1949 until her retirement in 1980 and was Head of Department. Many will remember her beautiful italic handwriting, a skill she also taught to students, as well as her contribution to the production of the annual Varndean Chronicle.
Varndean would like to send the school's sympathy to her sister.
From all of us at #TeamVarndean, we wish you a fun-filled #easterholiday and well-deserved break. Please see below for the support you can receive if you or your child is struggling during the #easterholiday https://t.co/SdLYMLBv5z
For #WomensHistoryMonth, our Year 8s have been having lessons on notable women in history and the story of how women got the vote in England. Equality, kindness and standing up for what's right continues to play a large part of Varndean's ethos. https://t.co/dMsV2Hyy6F
