Fred and Gaby celebrate their success in Create and Cook 2017.
Fiveways pigeon pie and spiced rhubarb pavilion cake were among the local delicacies on offer from varndean School students Gaby and Fred in this year's Create and Cook competition. The competition focuses on local ingredients and our students opted for a local theme as well as flavour!
Their menu was awarded Highly Commended by judges of the young cooks regional competition run by Fit2Cook, and we couldn't be more proud. Pictured above are Fred and Gaby alongside Headteacher Mr Deighan and Director of Catering at Varndean School, Mark Hancock who has been working closely with the students alongside Mr Speller, Head of Food Technology.
Over the last few weeks students have been working hard in pairs to devise, create and hone their menu as well as actually cooking it. We have created a gallery of some of their work which was of a very high standard.
