Suzanne Denyer Award and Varndean Development Award

Recognising outstanding effort, achievement and committment to studies with two annual awards.

Two former students, Timothy Taylor and Rebecca Hong, have been recognised for their outstanding effort, achievement and commitment to their studies whilst at Varndean School. They each received a warm welcome in the assembly of their former school, Ellis and Angelou respectively, along with a cheque for £1,000 to support their further education.

Varndean Development Award

Timothy Taylor was a guest in the Ellis assembly on Thursday 22nd October. Thanks to his hard work and growth mindset whilst at Varndean School Timothy has received the Varndean Development Award. In the assembly he spoke with Miss Meloni, Head of Ellis School, about how “If you work hard you will achieve your aims.” Timothy has gone on to study A-Levels at Varndean College including 3D Design. Before dashing off to college he took a moment to humbly tell us of his shock of winning the award.

Suzanne Denyer Award

On Friday 23rd October Rebecca Hong came back to school to receive the Suzanne Denyer Award. The award was created as part of the legacy of ex-student Suzanne Denyer who left Varndean to pursue a successful career in the Police Force. She was keen to recognise students who matched her determination and commitment to hard work and achieving their full potential.

Rebecca has certainly matched that determination and is now studying sciences at BHASVIC and hopes to pursue a career in dentistry in the future. She was presented with her cheque in Angelou’s assembly by Ms Marshall-Fraser, Deputy Head of School.

We wish both Timothy and Rebecca every success with their future studies.
