New Catering Assistant Chadia (centre) with IRC's Poppy Bullen & photographer Betty Zapata
Recently we welcomed Chadia to our team, a Syrian refugee now settled in Brighton and working as a Catering Assistant at Varndean School.
Already a stalwart and much respected member of the catering team, Chadia brings with her values we should all aspire to have - determination, courage and positivity, along with a caring nature. So it wasn't surprising when we were contacted by Senior Digital Communications Officer Poppy Bullen from the International Rescue Committee, who have been following Chadia's journey, asking to come and photograph Chadia in her new role and to talk to those working with her.
Please follow the link to find out more about Chadia's journey in the IRC report.
We are very much looking forward to tasting some of Chadia's own recipes in the canteen!
