At Varndean School we have four awards to recognise outstanding achievements over the course of a student's time here: Suzanne Denyer Award, Varndean Governor Award, Joan Richards English Award and Mathematics Award. The winners of these awards are invited back into school to be presented with their cheque and to serve as inspiration for our current students exemplifying our school motto Challenge and Pride.
We wish current winners, previous winners, and of course all students, every success with their future education and hope through continuing to challenge themselves they have many more proud moments.
Varndean School currently offers four awards for those students who display outstanding progress in their time with us.
Please see below for the winners of the awards for the year 21-22. They each received a proud welcome as they returned to the school to be part of a year 11 assembly. During the assembly they were presented with a cheque to further their education and to be spent in a way they feel will benefit their future.
The £1000 annual award was created as part of the legacy of ex-student Suzanne Denyer who left Varndean to pursue a successful career in the Police Force. She was keen to recognise students who matched her determination and commitment to hard work and achieving their full potential.
Congratulations to Bernine, this year's winner of the Suzanne Denyer Award, who has been recognised for their exceptional progress during their time at Varndean School.
The Varndean Governor Award created in 2015 matches the Suzanne Denyer Award to recognise the male student who has made the most progress through their hard work and dedication.
