Our annual school Sports Day is on Friday 19th June at Withdean Stadium.
Our annual school Sports Day is on Friday 19th June at Withdean Stadium. The event at Withdean commences at 9.00am. Please can students arrive by 9am in sportswear preferably in their school colours, if they are competing. Students are not expected to wear uniform on the day. All students will need a packed lunch, plenty to drink and waterproofs or sun cream depending on the weather conditions. There will be snacks and refreshments available on the day to purchase. A packed lunch will be provided for those students entitled to a free school meal.
If your child cannot make their own way to Withdean Stadium (or you would prefer them not to) they can come to Varndean School where they can be walked to the stadium with members of staff, please note that students will need to arrive slightly earlier than usual as the group will be leaving school at 8.35am. Our staff will need to know how many students to expect in advance so they can register them on the day. So if you wish your child to be escorted to Withdean please email firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday 18th June at the latest.
Sports Day will finish at 1pm at which point students will be dismissed to make their way home, be picked up or make the return walk to school with staff. If dismissing your child early will cause problems, please ask your child to give a note to their form tutor on arrival and they can return to school with staff until the usual time of 3.05pm.
Parents are welcome to join us on Sports Day. Please sign in at the main gate on arrival and we will show you to the parent seating areas. Students will be seated with their form group offering encouragement and support to their school.
If you can’t make it to the event in person, you will be able to follow the results as they happen here.
