Remembering Rita Milham.
Varndean School was very sorry to hear of the death of Rita Milham during the summer holidays. She joined the staff in 1963 to teach Maths. 1970 saw her promoted to Deputy Head teacher. In this position, she served three Heads – Miss Clarke, Mrs Smithers and Mrs Bowmaker. For all that time, she worked quietly and with dedication to ensure the school ran smoothly. Indeed, it could almost be said that Varndean was her life.
After her retirement in 1992 she continued to live in Brighton. In recent years, she was delighted to be invited to several school events and to see how Varndean has continued to develop. The funeral is on Thursday 7th September at 12.30pm at Woodvale Crematorium, South Chapel, Brighton.

For #WomensHistoryMonth, our Year 8s have been having lessons on notable women in history and the story of how women got the vote in England. Equality, kindness and standing up for what's right continues to play a large part of Varndean's ethos. https://t.co/dMsV2Hyy6F
